Delphi designed the
Front-End Processor for Raytheon’s Firefinder Block II Radar
Program. The Front-End Processor provides the means for converting
real radar sensor data from the Analog Processor Unit to quadrature
data prior to general purpose signal processing. The Front-End
Processor responsibilities include a data saturation check, data
decimation,
FIR filter, and FAST AGC calculation.
The Front-End Processor is
a single width 6U VMEbus compatible card consisting of three
(3) sensor
data interfaces with six (6)
C62 processors . The FEP provides interfaces to the Analog
Processor Unit (sensor data interface), VMEbus, RACEway, and Fibre
Channel
(FC). Each C62 processor has a direct path to the RACEway interface
to allow a minimum of 100 Mbytes/sec high bandwidth data transfers
to other signal processors on the RACEway interface.

Delphi designed the radar signal processor for the Crusader Projectile
Tracking System (PTS). The PTS is a high resolution radar that
will enable the mobile Crusader artillery system to autonomously
direct fire. The radar signal processor is a highly integrated
single-board subsystem with timing and control logic to control
radar transmissions, data buffers to store digitized radar
returns, a multi-channel baseband conversion function implemented
with
high-density programmable logic, and a PowerPC G4 floating-point
DSP processor.
The PowerPC G4 controls the radar signal processing
and performs matched filter, doppler filter, and radar detection
processing. Delphi was responsible for all hardware and software
concerning the radar signal processor including systems analysis,
simulation, architecture tradeoffs, processing algorithm
development, software design, and prototype development in preparation
for
live-fire testing. |
